PETA lawsuit claims SeaWorld is enslaving killer whales

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is accusing the SeaWorld parks of keeping five orca whales in conditions that violate the 13th Amendment ban on slavery.

  • Five additional plaintiffs are the wild-caught orcas
  • The lawsuit is based on the text of the 13th Amendment, which prohibits the condition of slavery without reference to ‘person’ or any particular class of victim
