Broken Jaw Policy Limits Settlement
Our young client was one of several passengers being driven by a friend. It was snowing and there was ice on the road.
Without warning, the driver hit some ice, lost control and the car struck a tree. Our client fractured her left and right mandible. It took three oral maxillary facial surgeries to correct the problem and get her back on her feet.
The first surgery included a bilateral lower jaw fracture repair in which a plate, wires and screws were used to keep the jaw in alignment and closed. Six weeks later a second surgery took place which resulted in the removal of the bone fracture fixation appliance. A third surgery was necessary to remove the right mandibular bone plate.
The insurance company for the negligent driver acknowledged fault but offered an inadequate amount of money to cover our client’s medical bills and injuries. We were eventually able to get the insurance company to almost double its offer and pay the insurance policy limits to settle the case.
This case was settled for the insurance policy limits without the need to file a lawsuit, litigate or take the case to trial. We’re happy to report that today our client is doing much better.
